Risk

• This position is key to supporting a robust risk management framework at Fortitude, in line with industry best practices and expectations of regulatory and other stakeholders. It provides the opportunity to play an impactful role in the design, continuous refinement, and implementation of the model risk management function at a new and growing company. The nature of the role provides diverse opportunities for learning, growth, and expansion of responsibilities.
• Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
  • Supporting the Fortitude Re ERM Model Risk Management function.
  • Performing independent model reviews, testing and validation of models, including review of model documentation, evaluation of risks, and proposing review strategies and recommendations for enhancements to reduce the company’s risk profile. Developing formal testing and validation plans in collaboration with first line modeling and UAT teams
  • Ensuring model risk policies, standards, and procedures are continually being met to ensure compliance with both internal governance and regulatory requirements
  • Advocating for Model Risk across the organization and promoting strong model risk management practices
  • Advising first line teams, ERM team members, and management on regulatory compliance requirements and best practices with respect to effective model risk management
  • Providing periodic updates to the Model Governance Committee regarding model risk related matters
  • Developing model risk reporting and documentation to support audit or other outside reviews of model risk management activities

Accounting, Payroll & Financial Planning

• Provide support for FSPL application after implementation
• Lead & design and implement of other Data integrations into SAP FPSL as required
• Design and document required configurations for SAP FPSL/GL
• Actively participate in training and knowledge transfer sessions
• Work closely with end users to design SAP FPSL/GL solutions
• Perform initial setup, prototype, configuration, and testing
• Recommend best practices for configuring SAP FPSL/GL
• Support end-to-end processes, business requirements, and system architecture for Fortitude-re
• Analyzing, designing, and assisting of SAP FPSL solutions


AVP, SAP Finance Product Sub Ledger (FPSL)

• Managing the month-end and quarter-end close of all investment accounting and reporting
• Performing detailed analysis of investment results and communicating to senior management under both GAAP and Statutory (US STAT) reporting
• Overseeing the investment component of periodic settlements of reinsurance and funds withheld transactions
• Conformance with the investment accounting internal control environment under Sarbanes Oxley and NAIC Model Audit Rule
• Managing and reviewing activity in the GL, reconciliations, audit support, and ad hoc projects
• Prepare ASC 810 consolidation analyses on private equity investments each quarter
• Participating in quarterly control reviews
• Managing and assisting compilation of quarterly and yearly footnotes, MD&A, Statutory investment exhibits, debt reporting covenants, valuation committee and audit committee reports
• Assisting with internal and external audits, related testing and the completion of audit work papers
• Explaining fluctuations in portfolio movements to Management
