Description

• Advise multi-stakeholders on legal considerations during the product development lifecycle process to ensure compliance with existing laws and regulations, including data privacy laws, intellectual property rights, laws related to AI development and deployment, consumer protection laws, and international legal requirements. • Identify and manage the IP aspects of products, including patents, trade secrets, copyrights, and trademarks. • Work with the data privacy and security teams to flag and advise on issues related to data privacy and security, ensuring the product complies with applicable data privacy laws including HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA. • Ensure the product and its marketing comply with consumer protection laws, avoiding deceptive trade practices, and ensuring fair competition. • Collaborate with the compliance, regulatory, and risk management teams to identify any additional potential compliance and regulatory risks associated with the product and work with the necessary teams to mitigate these risks. • Maintain understanding of new and evolving laws impacting the business. • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school and an active member of at least one state bar • 5+ years experience in a product counsel role with a tech company or technology driven environment • Familiarity and experience with data privacy laws and frameworks related to health data or other sensitive data (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR, etc.) • Experience advising on AI and Machine Learning • Proven experience working cross-functionally with various teams and stakeholders • Excellent problem-solving skills, legal drafting, and negotiation skills • Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure • Strong team player who can collaborate effectively with both legal and non-legal colleagues
